Wow...my school pales in comparison to most of these other schools. XD I hate my school. Let's see...they're about 75 people in the senior class (now freshman in college) and these are the acceptances (this is a list of schools that are considered pretty good in my opinion):

Barnard College (1)
Carleton College (1)
Claremont McKenna College (1)
Columbia University (1)
Cornell University (3)
Emory University (1)
Georgetown University (2)
Harvard University (1) <-This is like the first in like decades. XD
McGill University (2)
New York University (3)
Northwestern University (1)
Pomona College (1)
Reed College (1)
Smith College (1)
University of California, Berkeley (1)
University of Chicago (2)
University of Southern California (2)
Washington University in St. Louis (2)
Wesleyan University (1)

Yah, your school is weak. Actually sending people to Harvard. Yeah, cause not many schools do that ever. And Chicago, Pomona, Northwestern, NYU, McGill, Georgetown, Columbia, Cornell, Barnard, Claremont McKenna. A lot of these places are unattainable to the best from some schools. Stop being bitter.

Our school is a feeder to cornell. It is known as fact in our school that there is a qouta on the number of students they will accept from our school. They do value diversity, and if they didn't of my classes 300 grads, 75 would end up at cornell.

My class has seventy people. We offer no AP classes and, as a result, have never had anyone accepted to an Ivy League. So, basically I have no chance.

Piccolute: it is hard to actually be limited by your education. Many of us in schools like mine make use of the opportunities we have available (in this case, AP classes). Isn't there a community college nearby your school where you can take college-level courses?

Ava_ator, unless your schools is very weak, there is no reason why Yale (or any other university) would limit iteself to just one student from your school. It is true that universities may compare you to students from your school, but not in the way you think. If your school has 400 students, students ranked between #2 and #10 will probably all get the same treatment and will be differentiated based on ECs and essays. Valedictorians will get special consideration because they add to the statistics, but even then, a good essay and excellent ECs can make a difference there. So do not give up. If you have visted Yale and other universities, and are convinced that Yale is the only place for you, apply ED.
