My daughter has a 4.5 GPA - she has a 660 math and 680 verbal score on the SAT. She is African American - do you think she has a chance of getting into Cornell - should she apply?
First off, I believe this would go in the ‘What are My Chances?’ thread. Secondly, what is her UW GPA? GPA ranges a lot from school to school. She should retake her SATs for a better chance. I would say get each section to ~730. She should apply as there is only a 0% chance of getting in if you don’t apply but as someone who very recently experienced the brutality of the admissions process, I would say to not expect much. If Cornell is her first choice and costs aren’t that much of an issue, she should apply ED as that is somewhat of a trump card for admissions these days.
It’ll be a reach but not completely out of reach especially if her ECs and course rigor are strong.
Yes, higher test scores might help.
