Is CS hard to get into at Viterbi? Is going to USC for CS seen as good and prestigious to other companies n what not? Do u get to make good connections and do u get the chacne to get internships?? any help woudl be appreciated!!

I got into Computer Science (Games). I’m not that good, but I’ve taken a lot of classes, and I go to a good school. My SAT was 2170. Idk if that helps :
Viterbi has prestige, I think it was ranked 7th for Engineering once. Computer science is definitely top 25 ([Google-based Ranking of Computer Science and Engineering Departments](Google-based Ranking of Computer Science and Engineering Departments))
As for connections, at least for Computer Science (Games) majors, they should be really good, since USC is ranked first for Game Design. I think there are local companies there, as well as EA and the other awesomeness, and I’m guessing that USC recruits are a given.

I got into Viterbi for Computer Engineering and I talked to a professor in that dept. at USC at the open house.

He said some interesting stuff like:

-USC is the first school to ship a game to the market from their computer lab.
-They would be receiving an SDK to Microsoft’s project Natal. (controlling games without physically touching a controller)
-They do have connections with EA, but the professor was talking about how EA is suffering right now under what he thinks is bad management.
-Kids are designing iPhone apps and paying for tuition with their earnings!
-Every single student Computer Science with an emphasis in games that graduated from USC got a job straight out of college (except for a few who didn’t want to jump right into a career yet)

So it sounds like they have a strong program.

for me the major says : computer science
wat does it say for u guys? it says speciliazing in games or something?

As of now mine is “Computer Engineering and Computer Science”

I might look into doing games though, haven’t decided.
