I just finished my sophomore year majoring in Chemistry and although I finished my last semester with a little over a 3.9 I recently came across some stories from B.S. in Chemistry graduates and their constant struggle to find a job, only being able to land part-time work through temp agencies with no benefits.
I like Econ so I’m thinking about switching to that, I was just curious how hard the major is from someone who’s currently doing it. I’ve found conflicting information online.
It is not a hard major but if you think Chemistry students are having trouble finding jobs, Economics is worse. Trust me, I have a BA in Econ and I am going back to do Accounting. Most Econ jobs are for PhDs or people who graduate top of their class Ivy League.
I’m going to have to disagree with you there. An Economics degree is quite a bit more versatile than a Chemistry degree. I’m planning on going for my MS. But even just quickly looking using job searching sites it’s much easier to find internships/jobs that accept Econ majors than it is to find ones for Chem majors.
