I want to work in the political world–is Emerson College a good place to attend if I want to become a political campaign manager, speechwriter, analyst, journalist, or contributor? Is it a good college to get political internships from? Would it be worth moving from the midwest to attend?
My brother is an Emerson grad.
There is a lot of political activity in Boston, as both city and state politics are a big deal, and get lots of media coverage. Every little thing the state & Boston governments do is reported & analyzed. Even the Boston public school board gets covered like it’s the United Nations or something. And Emerson is close to both the state capitol building & city hall.
I’m not sure how connected Emerson is to the government entities, but it is a big-time school for media, & has produced a number of famous TV journalists. So I’m sure it is well-connected to the local TV & radio stations.
It’s about as urban as a college can get, so don’t expect football games & frisbee on the quad. It’s bustling city action 24/7.
What are your other college options?
You should consider studying both political science & communications in college in light of your career goals.
