I am studying engineering in an ivy and I have some opportunities for doing undergrad research in engineering-related fields. However, since I want to work in IB later on, do IB companies prefer seeing a research experience on one's resume, or other social/arts/business-related leadership/activities?

Right now, I am involved in a business-related club. I am thinking about doing one more activity; either a research or joining an a capella group. So, which one do you guys think is more useful?

Joining a capella can probably help you more. It get you into more difficult situations in which you will have to balance all the stuff you have to do, and investment banks like that since you are going to have to be able to deal with a lot of crap such as crazy time commitments, tedious excel work, sleep deprivation, etc, and I simply think science research is too structured to be viewed in a better light than doing a capella with regards to this.

It doesn’t really help. It’s better you’re able to find a finance-related internship instead. But, I guess it can’t hurt if you got nothing else.
