I was admitted to Goergetown which I was surprised about but obviously extremely happy! Unfortunately, in order to attend, I would have about $40,000 in loans when I graduate which isn't terrible but is not in anyway great. My other option is to go to a school where I would owe nothing when I graduate, but it's not on the same level as Georgetown academically. I have wanted to go to Georgetown since I can remember but my question, is that debt too much for undergraduate and would Georgetown be worth the loans?

Thanks for any advice!

I forgot to add that I will be pre-med so I’m expecting more loans with medical school too!

What’s the other school?

I personally think, it all depends what type of job you are seeking after college. What’s your intended major, or career interest? Also ask yourself, if going to your dream college, meeting multicultural kids, from around the world, and having an awesome college experience is worth it. I’m looking at 25k in loans, but let me tell you, if I had 40k, I would still go. It’s an opportunity that will not come again (excluding post grad). In my opinion, it’ll be worth it, if YOU make it worth it. Take advantage of all the things Gtown offers, over that least expensive college alt., and it will be worth it. But if you just do the same things you would at that other school, it won’t be worth it. Obviously, Gtown has more advantages, so utilize them. It’ll be the best choice you make.

Have you decided to become a Hoya?

As I said in another post: whatever financial debt you accrue cannot outweigh the priceless value of being where you truly belong.

Don’t put a pricetag on the things and experiences of life which matter most.

Thanks for the advice! I’m going to be a Hoya!! :)

40 Grand over four years is the cheapest it gets at georgetown my friend, that’s what I’ll be paying as well. It’s def worth it, especially if you can defer the payments. Take a chance man, being THAT conservative won’t get you too far. 40 Grand compared to the 240Grand some students are paying doesnt even compare.

I agree with etg2013.

@SFSRules - Most likely yes! 80% sure. I’m visiting with the Hoya Saxa Weekend program. I’m excited to fly out Thursday! I hope Gtown is everything I expect!

^ You’re coming at the right time of the year too! You’ll be sold the moment you enter the main gates! Have a fun trip.

I shall! Any pointers, or suggestions of things I should try to see or get more info about?
