Washu does look for demonstrated interest. Why build a campus of students who see a university as an also ran? Does Cornell like to see itself as a last choice Ivy? Wash U is different and unique. You really need to explore your choices and figure out if the strengths of the university match your aspirations. The WashU experience is far different from the UPenn experience and the students are by and large much happier.
I’m surprised by your stats that WashU let you in.
I didn’t see any hooks. Good luck to you.
OP, my S is attending an Ivy. His second choice was WashU. Try not to confuse the admissions game with what actually goes on at the school. I did not read your whole thread but I have to say that we were impressed when we visited. S loved the art school and the university overall. Some programs and depts are exceptional, others probably not as much, but if it works for you, it works. Time to let go of prestige fixations and even rankings that aren’t relevant, and focus on what YOU hope to get out of your college experience.
