Is College GPA really important when you apply for an internship or get a job after graduation??

Which one’s better?

Going to an ivy and getting a 3.3ish GPA or going to a good but not as tough like NYU and getting a 3.8ish GPA??

i’m talking about internships in like business area…

and what are some of the internships/businesses that most ppl majoring in economics work for??

Investment Banking. obviously.

Uh and I'd argue it's much easier to get a 3.5+ gpa at Ivies (minus Princeton and Cornell) than a 3.5+ at NYU Stern. This is actually another reason why Ivies in general are good for lazy people. Lots of prestige + opens doors but the major major grade inflation won't even hurt ur GPA. Most classes you show up you're pretty much guaranteed a B or above.

I've heard that Penn hasn't been as big on grade inflation as has, say, Princeton or Yale, so it's much harder to maintain a good GPA there.

It all depends on what you're studying and your professor. It applies to any college/university actually. Grade inflation is over-rated in my opinion.

I believed in grade inflation before I got to Penn...then I realized that grades are "inflated" because most people work their asses off.

I wonder if truazn knows from experience that all six ivy leagues are stuffed with lots of "lazy people," or if mommy's gossiping with the wives at chinese bridge club has gotten to him too much.

Make no mistake, It is difficult to get A's in even most college classes. God forbid Penn throws the curve-depressed student a bone once in a while.

lol all 6 ivies...Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Penn, Dartmouth

i have an excuse, they already let me in! hahaha

Uh nope not first hand experience. But plently of articles a couple of years ago about 9/10 Harvardians graduating with Honors/Distinction. Yale's average gpa is a B+ as is Columbia's. Princeton and Cornell's gpa is severly deflated tho.

I think if you learn your stuff and learn it well, you should get an A. Curves are lame concepts.

There have to be some weeder classes to differentiate students. Blunt truth.
