Is Hamilton too pre-professional ?

I was hoping to major in economics and then probably go to grad school to do furthur studies in economcs. Is Hamilton a good fit for me ? Does it have a good reputation for grad school ?

Hamilton has a KILLER econ program. That's one of the areas that has a fantastic reputation. As a whole, Hamilton does not have much of a reputation with the common masses, but Hamilton has a superb reputation in the professional and graduate world.

thanks... 10 char

Does anyone know if Hamilton has a solid career placement office? With the economy turning into **** and the job market very scary, will Hamilton be helpful for our post-graduate lives?

What the career placement office does is help you connect with alumni. You will get a list of past students in your field that have offered to help with connections.

They do much more than that, but connections is what it is all about!

Snowball, are you are Hamilton student (and is so, what is your major)?

The Career Center is pretty awesome. They’ve helped me a ton with cover letters and resumes, which are looked at by peer tutors. The nice thing about that is it is easy to get an appointment, and they are incredibly helpful. I called Friday morning at 10, and had an appointment for the same day at 11.

As for the actual career counselors, they have their strengths and weaknesses. A lot of Hamilton grads go into Econ, Gov, etc., so we have lots of connections in that area and as a result they have really solid placement. On the other hand, I was interested in interning in China this summer, and since there aren’t a whole lot of alums over there, it is much more difficult to find something. Then again, a friend of mine will be interning in South Africa through something he was put in touch with by the Career Center.
