Hey guys, I'm looking for a good laptop that can last me for at least 3 year. I'm going to major in electical and computer hardware engineering, and I will be doing a lot of school related stuff with my computer. I was wondering if the IdeaPa Y460 is the perfect match, if not please suggest me some good computers? I'm not looking for HP, ACER, and those crapy brands.

Thanks,
Jay

If you are looking to go with a Lenovo, I would strongly recommend that you purchase one of the ThinkPad series ones.

Lenovo used to be IBM, and the ThinkPad laptops have a great name. They are one of the top choices of laptops for many businesses and also are virtually indestructible.

The IdeaPads have been around less time than the ThinkPad series, and have received mixed reviews.

Within the ThinkPad Line, look at the T-Series… This is comparable to the price of the laptop you have been looking at. It has better specs too.
Good luck with whatever you choose!

thanks summerdude, I was thinking of the T series as well, but can you tell me if there are better laptops than lenovo?

Lenovo is simply the best. I literally just bought a T510 a few days ago! For a great discount, check out lenovo.com/spp

You will need to register an account, which is free, and then you can go! You do NOT need to be a shareholder.

I agree, Lenovo is one of the better brands. There are others though like Toshiba that are good as well. I would be cautious around HP, but the HP Envy 14 has received a lot of good publicity and is very popular on this forum.

Of course, Macs are very popular too and are reliable, but they may not fit the bill for your major.
