I took the SATs in March for the 1st time and got my scores back today. They were dismal: CR 660
math 680
writing 700
1340/2040
I'm definitely retaking them (want to break 700 on each section) but is it even possible to get into Williams ED with these stats? I loved Williams on paper and when I visited it this past summer, I knew that this was the school for me. So please, is this school out of my league? Thanks!

Hi Via, my daughter’s jumped 120 points with the second taking without any preparation. So it can happen.

that gives me hope, thanks

The first time I took the SAT my scores were very similar to that, then I studied with the Collegeboard SAT book, took several practice tests and when I took the SAT again I went from from 2080 to 2220
On the same note, studying for the ACT caused my scores to go from 32 to 34
Case in point: studying for SAT/ACT may not be fun, but it can work exceedingly well

i did use the blue book but apparently it wasn’t enough, any suggestions? books or otherwise? how did you study vivienne8?

I used the blue book from SAT, and the red book from ACT (the Science section of this book was a LIFESAVER, I went from never having enough time on the Science section to finishing with 7 minutes to spare and wound up with a 35 on this section)
And practice tests, nothing beats taking the test multiple times, and then grading it to see what questions/areas need work.
Practice tests, practice tests, practice tests!

i did use all the tests in the blue book so i guess i’ll just have to get a different one and hope for the best

My D took her SAT’s 3x (and one time in the 7th grade, but I don’t count that). Her math went from 690>760, CR 720>800, and Writing from 680>760 (Best composite scores). I’d say it’s worth taking several times, particularly since most colleges take your best score.

I got in ED with a 1980 on the SAT’s. I only took them once and realized they weren’t for me… took the ACT and got a 34. I’d try taking both to see which suits you better
