Is it bad if I don't complete any additional courses (recommended but not required for admission)

Hello, I am currently taking the last two prerequisites for my major. However, I am also taking an additional course but the workload is a lot and it might hurt my chance of getting a B or above in my required courses.

I feel like dropping the additional course, but I am scared it will hurt my admission to the UC’s especially harder ones like UCB / UCLA.

Should I drop it? I have a 3.94 GPA, Computer Engineering major, and the class I want to drop is Discrete Mathematics.

If you do not take it before transfer, you will have to take it after transfer. Be careful in that having to “catch up” on lower division courses after transfer may increase the risk of needing an extra semester or quarter.

I asked my schools transfer counselor about this and she said if you are applying for something impacted you should complete those courses no matter your GPA because it makes you look more competitive. If I were you, I would take that class, especially since you applied to UCLA.

The advisor has a point. You should try and stick with it.
