For example, I was invited to an honors camp at UT Austin, which I attended during the summer. I was going to put it on the activities section of the common app as an academic activity and mention in the details section that I experienced college classes and student life.

I am applying to Fordham (my #1 choice school) and Hofstra (safety) using the common app. Would mentioning UT Austin look bad and make it seem like I want to go there instead of the schools I'm using the common app for?

In my opinion, I don’t think mentioning another college on another college’s application would narrow your chances at all. Talking about a camp, an honors camp, especially, would show wherever you are applying to that you have a wide perspective on schools, as well as your high academic levels.

Choosing to attend an academic camp in the summer shows that you are interested in learning, and admissions officers at any college will look favorably on that academic activity, regardless of where it happened.

Absolutely mention the other program. for example, I went to Oberlin baroque performance institute and george mason’s honor band festival and summer jazz workshop. I put both on my apps. A lot of activities are affiliated with colleges and it will not hurt your app.
