As many of you know, November SAT scores come out tonight. In the Pacific time zone, this is 2 AM.
It will be annoying to set an alarm for 2 in the morning, then go back to sleep, because it might wake up my family.
However, if hypothetically am disappointed with my score, will it be more emotionally devastating in the morning, because I am less sleepy?
Others who have tried checking their scores both ways: which way is generally better- checking my score the moment it comes out at o-dark-thirty or waiting for morning?
Personally, I feel like this is a very personal question. Only you know if you’re able to function tomorrow on 3-4 hours of sleep, and only you know how much it is going to upset your family.
That said, your scores aren’t going to change over the four extra hours of sleep. If you wind up with bad scores, they’re still going to be bad when you wake up. I think it isn’t so much about when you look at your scores, it’s being realistic with yourself and preparing for every possible outcome.
@bodangles Yes, after 20-30 minutes of pondering it I would be able to fall back asleep I think.
@peytonmg that is wonderful advice. I should focus more on lowering my expectations than waiting for the right moment for the “big reveal”. That said, I think I will just wait until morning to get a better sleep.
@Studious99: I would suggest checking it in the morning as well because if you score 2300+ I guarantee you will not be able to get back to sleep. You would be soooo excited it would ruin your readiness for the school day. Get some shut eye!
first time SAT? idk its not so bad the second time cuz you have an idea of your mark already. But I won’t be able to fall back asleep if I wake up at 2am (pacific here too)
@dfbdfb Strangely enough, I took a trip across the international date line a few years ago, and on the way back we actually arrived “earlier” than we had left.
My son wakes me up for every test score. SAT tests, a 2am wake up for me. AP scores, a 5am wake up. I started telling him, no wake ups unless you score above xyz. No wakeups without an 800 on your subject tests. No wake-up without 5s on your APs. Sigh. I still get woken up.
In October, I celebrated my son’s final SAT knowing I would finally get to sleep. No more tests. No more wakeups!!!
So wake up at 2am for your test scores, and better yet, wake up your mom to share the joy or mysery!
just check your scores in the morning. you technically won’t wait any longer by checking them at 6AM because you’ll be sleeping, not waiting. hopefully that makes sense, but yeah.
@Waiting2exhale I think all moms should share in the agony of 2am test results. It brings us back to the days of 2am feedings and remind us of how wonderful it is to sleep.
