I’m looking to apply for financial aid and some of the universities i want to apply too state that it hinders an international students chance when applying for aid. I was wondering if Canadians are looked at the same way in regards to these situations then applicants from other countries?
If the schools have merit aid available and international students can apply for the funds, then those are the schools you should consider. Most aid, is based on federal or state funding which is not applicable to you.
(In the meantime, you may want to work on improving those “grammatical” English skills).
Yes, Canadians are looked at in the same way for financial aid as citizens of other countries. Most universities cap their admissions of foreign citizens at around 10%. Applying for financial aid will hinder your chances.
I just wanted to say that it is not necessarily true that Canadians are looked at in the same way as citizens of other countries. For example, UPenn is need-blind for Canadians, Mexicans and Americans, but not for citizens of other countries. You will need to look into the policies for each institution separately (off the top of my head, I believe JHU is also need-blind for Canadians).
That is the word you are looking for. Need-blind. It means that applying for financial aid will not hinder your chances.
What other advantages are there for Canada educated students versus other international students.
