Is it ever useful to list high school awards?

Awards like AIME qualifier, National AP Scholar, and semifinalist status on science olympiads? I see a lot of professors list "National Merit Semifinalist" on their CVs so I'd expect that it might have a chance of helping (although I missed that by 1 question =/).

And what about competitive math/science summer camps that you might have attended?

Those types of awards don’t mean anything to graduate committees. They want to see awards specific to the field you are entering.

I wouldn’t. I know we all want to think that fillers will do no harm but these profs read so many applications every day. They don’t want to see it. It just doesn’t mean anything at this stage. You competed against HS students and won – fine, but you’re now expected to have competed against those winners and won again. So list college awards only.

NO! You’re applying to GRADUATE SCHOOL!

Sorry to be so blunt, but seriously…
