It’s tough to get in without 700 in math and verbal. Being African American and a first generation college student may help but you should try to raise your scores, of course. Depending on your SAT II scores you could consider submitting 3 of those as an alternative. Good luck!

ObamasUncle,

Scores are a factor, but what matters most is that you portray a convincing story in your application that matches nicely with your coursework, academic interests, and activities. High scores aren’t impressive, if you lack any sort of flare or interesting perspective to contribute to the spirit of the College. A clear, direct outline for why Middlebury is the school for you is vital. Don’t be afraid to submit an additional essay, if you need more space to provide the Admissions Committee with a story for your name.

Ultimately, they admit students with a wide spectrum of interests, so all of their choirs and orchestras and sports fields and academic departments have students involved. My advice is not to get set on one school. Cast your net wide, have two or three safeties that you LOVE, and roll your dice alongside literally thousands of other smart, motivated individuals from around the world.

Good luck.

I don’t think the other two posters know what they are talking about.
Are you a senior? If you are a junior, you should apply for the discover Middlebury program next fall.
I think you have an excellent chance of getting in. Midd looks at grades, recs, ECs, community service, and SATs. The SATs are just a part of your overall package.
Middlebury does give points in the admissions process to 1st generation,( no matter what ethnic group), URM, and financially disadvantaged students.
I say go for it.

I second OBD’s advice. Go for it. You won’t know if you don’t apply!

“I don’t think the other two posters know what they are talking about.”

OBD, omniscient College Confidential presence, says “go for it.” You should definitely go for it now.

Sweet of you, lovinlife…I do have a pretty good track record…

^^ where is the like button?
