Is it hard to keep up with technology for computer science majors?

My parents insist that comptuer science majors always have to learn a lot (much more so than other careers) even after they graduate. They say that computer science is a carreer, in which only the young really thrive, and where older seniors eventually drop off or lose their jobs because they simply cannot keep up with the advances in technology.

Is this true? I understand that all careers require training and learning to keep up, but do elderly computer science majors find it especially hard to keep up? Are there any statistics on this?

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, does no one know?

I don’t think it’s true. The basics don’t change, and picking up things like a new programming language, to quote one of my CS profs, is something you do with your fingers. Algorithms are essentially abstract mathematical things, the rest is mechanics.
