You should really tell your waitlist school you might not have anywhere to go in the fall. Write them an email/fax. Right now.

will that change anything? or just make me look desperate…?

@classicrockerdad
you are correct.

my junior year grades were not the best, one of my closest friends committed suicide and my boyfriend of 3 years broke up with me…
I wrote about this for my essay, however I think the collleges i applied to didn’t even look that far, but who knows. I’ve always been an A-B student.

I think it will work favorably for you and I have seen other people on CC advise to tell the WL college you might not have anywhere to go in the fall. Have you written a letter of interest?

I sent friday a handmade card, i thought it would be more clever and stand out more than a piece of paper. I’m very artistic and wanted to show them. It should be there by tomorrow, and in the letter (it was short and to the point) i stated it was my #1, and as soon as i set foot on campus it felt like the “right fit”

I’m sorry to hear about your personal situation. That makes it harder, but you have to be strong and get past it.

If you have a cellphone, make sure it’s on when you’re not in class, and make sure the colleges that you have been waitlist for have the number.

A list comes out on May 4, this Wednesday, of schools that still have openings. Be on College Confidential and there will be a link to that list. Then move quickly and do more applications.

thank you very much, i’ll make sure to keep checking CC

On my application i put my cell phone number, is that good enough? i suppose they’d call my house phone then cell, but who knows.
my school is just a typical state school, lots of people apply, but i don’t think its many peoples first choice, who knows! i’m just very nervous :(

One of the factors contributing in so many waitlisted applicants is the fact that a record number of students applied to college this year, and so many of these applicants applied to so many schools. Moodragonx applied to 23 schools, while this may be over the top I know my son applied to nine colleges. Considering you can only pick college one to attend, the more colleges applicants apply to and show interest in, the harder it is for colleges to predict their yield. Hears hoping to all those waiting, for my son it is Villanova that he hopes will call soon!

@moodragonx - which school did you submit your deposit to? Have you heard from the waitlist?

I submitted a deposit to Harvey Mudd College. If I’m nor mistaken from the research I’ve done and those I’ve asked it has the best physics program from the schools that accepted me. I’m also not sure which of the schools on the waitlist would be worth dropping Mudd for, if they manage to pick me up.

That is, I have not heard back from any waitlists yet. I looked up the notification dates and they seems to be around June 1st - 15th so if they want they can make me sweat for a while.
