Is it necessary to tell them this?

I've taken the ACT twice before, without any studying, and received scores that I am not proud of. I am planning on taking my next ACT in 2 months. However, on the Common App, it asks if I've taken the ACT before and if I have, to release my scores. I'm not too comfortable with that though, and was expecting to only release the scores I will receive this Sept. Can I say I haven't taken it before? Or will they know? What should I do! I thought releasing all test date scores was optional and that you could send the ones you choose.

It should be optional to put the actual score in. The self reported scores dont officially count, you still need to official send score reports.

Beth, you’re probably not going to actually submit your fully completed apps until October at the earliest? So why not wait until you have the ACT results in September to complete this section, when you hopefully have a better score to report.
