Is it o.k. to send an enrollment/housing deposit to more than one college?

My DS has applied to 4 public schools. He has been accepted to two, and is waiting on the other two. The ones he has been accepted to indicate that priority for housing selection next spring is based on when the enrollment/housing deposits are sent in, both of which are refundable until May 1. Given that, is it considered morally o.k. to send in the enrollment/housing deposit to each of the schools as he is accepted, until he receives FA packages and decides where he will go, knowing that he will eventually ask for refunds from three of the colleges? I know there is a box on the Common App asking you to confirm that you will only send in a deposit to one school, but none of these were Common App schools.

That is fine, by sending in the deposit you are **not **committing to attend that school. I’m sure the wording of the form makes that clear. The Common App statement is to prevent students from accepting multiple admissions.
We had the same dilemma with our state school.
I wonder how many people forget to ask for their deposit back?
