Is it okay to skip on PSAT day?

I’m a sophomore, and our school signed us all up to take the psat tomorrow. I’ve done my research, and decided last year I was going to take the ACT instead of the SAT. I’ve already started studying for the ACT. I’d have no problem taking the PSAT if it wasn’t for the fact that I misread directions on a five page paper which I now have to redo. I was planning on just coming in after lunch, which would give me time to at least redo a good portion of my paper. Thoughts?

Are you asking permission to cut school?

Nope, not getting it from me. Get off the computer now, redo your 5 page paper, and show up for school tomorrow.

I was gonna come in after lunch; I’m not a delinquent

So it’s a matter of how many hours you cut?

When S1 was a sophomore, he was sick that day and missed it. That didn’t seem to hurt him taking the test junior year.

It would still be counted as a tardy, & I’m not missing class.
I guess you’re right, though. I’ll go do my paper, thanks…

Just as long as you realize that the Junior year PSAT is also the National Merit Scholarship Qualification Test. The Sophomore year testing means nothing in itself except to give you an idea whether you may be in range for NM Semi-Finalist or Commended status the following year. If you don’t take and ace the PSAT in your Junior year, you are out of the running for an NMSC scholarship or the bevy of full tuition rides offered by various colleges.

Since you’re a sophomore, you can stay home and do your paper, or see this test as a way to gauge whether you might be in the running for hundreds of thousand dollars in scholarship and do your paper tonight.

The test was yesterday

I wouldn’t recommend it, since you can be missing out on tons of scholarship money & seeing where you need improvement.
