Is it pointless to get my CPA in my home state (Kentucky) if I plan on moving to California

So I am a sophomore at Eastern Kentucky University majoring in finance and may change to accounting. I want to get my CPA after i graduate however I know CPA certifications do not transfer from state to state. So is a CPA from Kentucky pointless in California. What would be my options in this case?

Sit for the exam as a California applicant. You don’t have to have gotten your education in CA or be physically present in CA when you take the exam. Just be sure you meet the CA rules, and apply under them.

Alternatively, KY is substantially equivalent, so once you have 4 years of licensed experience in KY, you could get a reciprocal license in CA.
