I'm in an advanced math class at an international school in Europe. The class is designated to prepare you for MATH HL in IB. So, I'm not sure what pre calc is really, but I want to be in AP CALC AB next year because I'm switching schools.
Any advice?

It depends if you're a math genius or not. I know someone who did that and is doing fine. However, I know someone who says the only math course you should take over the summer is Geometry. There's some stuff you really need to go into detail within pre-calc that they skim through in the summer course.

You can do precalc over the summer! It's easy to find a place. Usually, it's kind of a review course of everything with a few new things thrown in... no teaching completely new types of math. And also, if you were in a prep class for Math HL, well Math HL is a more difficult class than Calc AB, it's more like Calc BC (or harder) so you should be fine.

pre calc is just algebra 2+trig so its not very hard at all

yea, it's really just learning trigonometry that's the stickler. if you know your algebra well enough then it's a cakewalk.

Pre-calc should only be a semester at most, so to answer your question, yes.

Pre-Calc is trig basically yea.

In my area pre-calc is called algebra 2 on steroids:-)

IS it possible to do PRE CALC OVER THE SUMMER?

Um, clearly.

thanks alot i needed the help
because this summer i'm tkaing advanced trigonometry which focuses on analytic trig so i hope thats enough

because like i've always gone to private school and my grades are good 3.5uw and i want more out of myself and my academics so here's the plan

JUNIOR YEAR

AP CALC AB
AP BIO
AP STATS
AP USH
AP ENGLISH
AP HUMAN GEO (this is a maybe)
RUSSIAN 1
AP JAPANESE

what should i drop??

you guys are soo helpful

thanks!

Drop they maybe-- AP Human Geo is kind of a BS class anyway. Also, why are you starting Russian 1? Unless you're really interested in it, it might appear inconsistent to colleges.

okk well my new school offers japanese tutoring but, not the class so what foreign language is easy to learn instead

I wish people would stop disrespecting AP Human Geography. I swear, have you guys seriously studied Geography before? It is not a "bs" subject area.

you can do a course over the summer at a prep school

yes. my friend did a semester. but he had a really highly paid tutor and he went to her everyday after summer school. he absolutely hated it because he was so stressed out everyday.
