I’m attending UCR this fall as an undeclared CHASS student. I initially was going to come into this school not knowing what to major in, but this summer after some thinking, I’ve decided to pursue nursing. Since UCR does not offer a nursing program, is there any way for me to transfer out of here at the end of my sophomore year and possibly to a CSU?
If you want to do Nursing, why not attend a community college, take your Nursing pre-req’s and then transfer into a CSU nursing program at end of Sophomore year?
Yes, you can take your Nursing Pre-req’s at UCR and then transfer but it would be more costly going this route.
nursing programs at all the CSUs are crazy competitive transfer targets. You need a really high GPA to be in the running. if you are certain that’s the path you want to take - a CC is probably the best route - though it is LATE and most CCs are pretty full at this point. The move could cost you a year but, if you know that’s your future, what’s a year???. If you still have some doubt, you can explore other options at UCR, maybe clock a little volunteer time at a hospital to see how it feels.
