Is it possiblt to change from SAT 1 to SAT II subject test ?

Does the student have to go through college board to make the change? Is it possible that they can’t accommodate Subject test assuming the tests will be in different rooms…

You have to make the change in advance; they will not let you change on the day of the exam.

Call College Board to change if possible. The student may have to take the test at a different test center. The student can also request to change at the test center on the test day but it’s possible that there will be no room.

thanks. but will college board be able to change? and I assume there is a fixed number of seats for SAT 1 and SAT II independently, therefore, is it possible that the change can’t be done? I am thinking about the Aug test…I checked just now and I have to travel over an hour (will be staying overnight)

You can change for the same test date before deadline for change (around 10-12 days before the test).
I believe this does not apply if you change for a later test date. You may have to pay some extra fee.

The August test is far away and deadline for regular registration is July 28. So, your kid should be able to change online now.

Note that the August test date has a lot less test centers than other test dates. Many are already full. If you want to make changes, do it now. It is very likely both SAT1 and SAT2 will be full at your closest test center that you cannot make any change if you wait. If the test center is already full, you cannot even do it now or you have to change test center too.

problem is I won’t decide until knowing the June result which comes in July.
Kid is taking 2 subject tests in June and we had initially planned to take SAT 1 in Aug, but I think she may not have time to prepare for one of her subject tests and may need to retake it.

unless you’re going in STEM, there’s great flexibility on which subject tests to take, and you can pick which subject tests you want on the day of the test. So your daughter could take her two strongest subjects in June. Studying for the SAT in the summer will automatically prepare her for the PSAT so I would stick to taking the August test, as she could do well and avoid more testing. Is she a soph now?
