Is it REALLY OKAY to re-use an essay for a scholarship???

"In fact, it's okay to re-use an essay that you wrote in class, for college admission or for another scholarship competition." IS IT A TRAP!? I have entered for a scholarship, and a link they gave me for another scholarship gave me the same options for the essay, ;eading me to believe that it is the same people running it. In fact, where they want you to type the essay, it says, "Paste your essay into this space."

Is it a mere coincidence or is it bait?

I applied for over 20 scholarships and used the same essay for almost every one if it fit the topic. I did slightly tweak them depending on the required length and prompt. I received most of the scholarships, and I think it is perfectly okay to reuse essays.

I think it’s fine to reuse an essay, but I’m not interpretting “Paste you essay” the same way you are. If I was applying somewhere and needed to write a brand new essay (e.g. clearly you can’t paste your “Why I want to go to Harvard” essay into your application for Yale), I’d still write it in a word processor and take my time editing and thinking, rather than typing it directly into the little box.

Email the scholarship sponsor with your question – that is the opinion that truly matters.

I’d say “yes” if the question/prompt is exactly the same.
