Is it safer to apply undecided?

I know that NEU’s business school is highly competitive and has a lower admit rate than the univ itself (as is at most schools).
I am interested in BSBA/ Marketing. I was also interested in the CS/BA combined major.
I’m applying EA.
My stats are on the lower side of the average for NEU (2020, 3.7W) so is it safer to apply as undeclared to avoid being rejected altogether?
If rejected from the business school, can you select a 2nd choice program?

I did dig around but found no answers so any help is appreciated.

I haven’t seen anything confirming this - Northeastern does not release admissions statistics by major, and generally implies that major admit rates are similar across the board. On top of that, Northeastern doesn’t admit by major or school - you can’t get “rejected” from the business college but accepted by any other.

Switching majors is very easy at Northeastern - you can even do it before you get to campus in Fall if you changed your mind. That said, given how easy it is to switch, I doubt that admissions standards would be so significantly different. I’ve seen incoming classes for colleges with popular majors grow accordingly with popularity, so size doesn’t seem to be capped.

Your application will be framed by the program you apply to - I wouldn’t try to play games with admissions as any small advantage would be lost by your EC’s and course selection not being looked at in the context of your major.
