You are wasting your time. Your daughter is only in 9th grade. You do not know her GPA or SAT. I hope that you are not obssesed with the IVY league schools as the only college for your daughter.

Also, is your daughter sure she wants to go into medicine? Then you would consider 6-7 year medical programs. Your time would be more wisely spent researching different options at this time, not visiting schools.

We ended up visiting 4 ivies (Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, and Brown). Imazingly, D took notes at all 4 schools and she likes Brown the best (Brown has the 8 years med program – which D also knows is very tough to get in). D also brought her skating boot and skated at Stamford, CT on the way to Yale, and Campion Ice Rink (4 minutes from Dartmouth campus). D is a novice figure skater as you can see from my ID. We had a wonderful time for our spring break.

Doctorboy: You are right. Just like you have mentioned “if she loves one of the colleges she visits… she is going to work as hard as she can to get into that college!” D said the exact same thing. D knows all these schools are very competitive and hard to get in, but she said she has learned a lot from the information sessions and that she is willing to work hard b/c she still has plenty of time to prepare for everything (SAT, internship, summer school, volunteer, etc…)

Of course, D will have some reaches, safety schools and as well as target schools when her time to apply for colleges.

OldPerson: We did take a look at Brown’s 8-year med program. GWU also has similar program (7-8 year med program as well), and we both are alumni at GWU. Do you think our alumni status will help my D status at GWU for applying to 7-8 year med program, when she is applying in the next few years here (provided that D will maintain very good status for GPA, SAT I, and SAT IIs, until her junior/senior year?)
