I applied SCEA and I saw that the college’s CSS due date was Nov 9th… does that mean I won’t receive anything if accepted? If so, it’s totally my fault that I didn’t check the date
Should I submit the CSS for all the rest of the schools that require it now? I haven’t submitted my FAFSA either because there’s a very low chance that my family will receive any aid from the government. Are there threads you could point me to that help families understand and maximize FA (we are middle range income)? Is it a little late to submit the FAFSA or am I with everyone else?
Contact the school’s financial aid office pronto and see if you can still file the forms. You will have to file the FAFSA also. Is the school affordable without any aid? Or all of your schools affordable without any aid? You won’t be able to get any federal loans if you don’t file the FAFSA.
Some schools have a hard and fast Nov 1 deadline for financial aid. Others do not. As stated above, call the financial aid offices of the schools on your list.
Look through the threads on this financial aid forum. Lots of good information.
Contact the school. It’s SCEA, not ED…so it’s very possible that you can just submit now…because really, you don’t need to make a decision about attending until May 1.
BUT if this is a college that is need aware for admissions…it’s very possible they think you aren’t applying for aid.
According to Yale Financial Aid office, you will not receive award notification in December if you miss the Nov 9 deadline but you are still able to apply for financial aid and will receive the award notification later in spring. So submit CSS now.
I think there is no need to change application to RD.
