Hey all,
I am a prospective student and am teetering on the edge of applying ED II. However, I come from a well-sized high school of about 1,700 students. Will Washington & Lee feel too small? Does anyone have any input onto the size?
Thanks!

D will be in the class of 2021, so obviously she doesn’t have experience with the college yet. But she made 3 visits, including an overnight. She had no concerns about the size of W&L. Her high school has 2000 students. She spoke to a current WL student from her high school and he didn’t think W&L was too small. We know a W&L senior from another large public high school and he is happy too.
I think the right size of a college is a personal choice. It isn’t necessarily related to the size of the high school you are coming from.
D graduated from W&L a couple years ago. She was surprised that although she knew a large cross-section of students due to her varied interests and organizations, she continued to meet people who were new to her even as a senior (and now as an alum). Agree with @Hippo21 that the size of your high school is not necessarily related to whether a small LAC is right for you.
And while I didn’t attend W&L, I graduated from a high school with 2400 students and went to a women’s college with a student body of about 1000. I loved how much easier it was to get things done without a ton of red tape and the personal attention a small college can offer.
