Is it true that UCSD has all the UCLA rejects???

laughs at cmc on ucb/ucla level, and pomona/mudd above

It's not that they're "better" per se, since they seriously only offer 8 majors, all of which in science, it's just crazy more selective. Harvey Mudd has an admissions rate of 15%, and it's a top 3 for engineering schools that only offer undergraduate degrees. UCLA/UCB have like 10x more people than the HMCs both applying and attending the schools.

Oh you're laughing? Why don't you look at preference rankings. When faced with the choice of Mudd/Pomona vs. UCLA/UCB, a majority of students choose Mudd/Pomona. Get your facts straight.

I think Pomona's is around 15%. Harvey Mudd is not. I think we are at 28% for this year, but our applicant pool is extremely self selective so that is deceptively high. Mudd and Pomona are tied for first with Amherst for the most selective LACs in the country by USNWR.

Also I think CMC's admission rate this year was around 16%. It's a little less selective than Pomona/Mudd, but it's still an extremely selective school.

More specifically, we are tied for first with Rose :). But, hopefully we will be the sole owners of the title next year.

My mistake, I thought this was a prestige pecking order and not an admissions one.

no, USC does.

and what do you know about merced? i would invite the selectivity mavens on this board to provide data that proves pomona is more selective than merced.

If UCR selectivity is a joke, Merced probably doesn't reject anyone UC eligible.

Harvey Mudd is a prestigious engineering / science school that many people do not know of. They do have quarky students. It is a bit below CalTech I would say.

Pomona is one of the most underrated school. I would say it'd be a lower-mid tier if it were part of the Ivy League schools.

who cares guys? this thread has become a outlet for competition

yes, it's true...ucla rejects go to ucsd.....sad isn't it? lol

who cares... what a stupid thread
