Is it true....

Freshman year I got a 78 avg. My grades always went up, but not too much till Senior year. Overall I had like an 86 or 87
Freshman year in college I have a 3.75 avg.

Honestly it depends on the person. Perhaps the reason that an A students in H.S. fail in college is because they worked hard in H.S. and lacked a social life and wanted to let loose in H.S. Also college is different academically and socially from H.S. and sometimes we make the wrong choice with the college we choose to go to. College fit and Major fit can impact academics tremendously. Personally i am about the same in H.S. as i am in college. Although i am only a freshman it seems nothing really changed, still get decent grades and made the dean’s list.

I had a 2.8 in high school and have a 3.9 in college.

Bear in mind an average or below-average HS student may have spent all of HS learning stuff they didn’t care about (or were a miserable, awkward teenager), but when they got to college they were able to pick and choose (to an extent) what they learned and thus were more engaged and got better grades.

Depends on a lot of factors…

A student who did well in high school might go to a harder/more challenging university than a student who didn’t do as well, or might lose his motivation. In either case, he’d do worse.

I did fine in high school, but our science department was pretty bad lol. So going to college as a science major probably wasn’t a good choice for me.

your valedictorian is going to a state school? is there anyone who went on to go to like MIT or anywhere?

in my opinion, no. the only way for this to be true is if the person with the better grades went to a better/harder school than the person who got a low GPA in high school. and this would usually be the case, because good colleges want students that have a good gpa in high school, because they think they’ll be better prepared for the rigor of their college. and i would agree with this thinking.

Depends on the school, MINE WAS RAPED LOL

maybe some of it has to do with sheltered kids from strict parents coming into college and realize nobody’s watching anymore, so they switch into party mode. That’s what happened to the dude I was talking about a couple of posts before. Now, he’s back on track with school.
