<p>Basically, my school has one application that's called a local scholarships application. On the very first page, there' s a space for me to attach my picture.</p>
<p>Not weird. If you were to win a scholarship, they might use the photo for publicity purposes.</p>
<p>In our experience, they want to “see” if you’re a URM. </p>
<p>I doubt they want the pic for publicity purposes, because that could be asked for later…in digital form for their use.</p>
<p>Occasionally, they ask for pictures so they can match the face to the individual later if there are interviews.</p>
<p>Not strange and not unusual… it’s easier to ask for them with the scholarship application than chase everyone down afterward.</p>
<p>It’s one thing to ask for a digital pic…but when they ask you to attach a pic (which could be any quality…xerox, whatever), I doubt it’s for publicity.</p>
