Is it worth filling out an application? (Chance Me)

With an unnaturally foreboding sense, I feel as though I might get rejected from my early decision, so I've decided to give Syracuse a look before I just choose to go to Community College for two years.

3.6 Weighted GPA/2.7 Unweighted (Because my school recognizes that it is super competitive (#10 school public in PA) they weight normal classes with 1.1 and mark them down as advanced, but that probably doesn't mean anything)

Decent recommendations

EFC= Unsure, but pretty close to $0. (If I were a NYS resident, I would narrowly miss the HEOP income threshold)

If it helps any, I'm declaring my first choice major as Policy Studies, my backup as Classics (went from a C- to an A in Latin between Freshman and Junior years, currently taking IB Latin SL), and my third is Political Science (obviously, given my background).

I don't question that there's at least a semblance of hope, no matter how small it is, for admission, but will I get a financial aid package that will allow me to attend?

Your SATs are def above SU average, though your GPA and rank will be a major setback. You have applied somewhere else Early Decision, and you have not yet applied to Syracuse, am I correct? You might have a chance applying Early to Syracuse but in my honest opinion, it might not be the most logical school to consider attending if you are applying regular. But hey, I’m no Cuse admissions advisor so I suppose there’s never any hurt in trying!

I’m not sure I would mention the political stuff. Don’t get me wrong–I’m an Obama supporter too–but my son’s college aide professional told him to avoid politics in applications and essays. It’s just such a touchy subject nowadays and people are easily offended if your views are opposite of theirs. Otherwise your stats seem great, especially your SATs.

i give you a 75% chance.

SU is very generous with financial aid. even if you don’t get any scholarship money, you might get a ginormous grant. that seems to be a relatively common practice here.
