I'm a freshman doing her first semester now...I'm majoring in some type of business degree, but I haven't decided which one yet. I'm also really interested in learning French, but I want some sort of recognition for it later in the future so I'm thinking of doing a minor in it. Would this be a waste of time? I'm from Canada by the way, albeit not the French speaking part of it.

A minor/major in a language is completely irrelevant if you aren’t fluent in that language (at least in the case of something like French or other Romance Languages).

The important thing on your resume won’t be the minor - it will be the line you add that says “Fluent in French” or “Proficient in French” or whatever.

Tl;dr don’t do it for the actual minor recognition - do it to become fluent.
