i mean ridiculously hard (6 APs) i didnt do well freshman year and i want to make up for it with a rigorous schedule will it pay off you think?

you will probably be rejected (20% admit rate), but its worth a shot.

I’m pretty sure you have to have the most rigorous course load offered at your school possible in order to be painted in the best like academically.

6 APs is certainly impressive but I would make sure that you can handle the rigor before you decide to put yourself through all those APs. It is no good if you take 6 APs and get poor grades and/or AP scores.
Also, ask yourself; Is the reason you didn’t do well freshmen year due to a lack of effort or due to the difficulty of the courses? If it is the later, then I certainly would not go for 6 APs.

it’s only worth it if you want to make that effort

The worth of taking a hard schedule is overcoming its challenge. If you’re doing it to get into the “Ivy League” itself, you’ll probably fail. To be blunt, those schools want natural scholars – people hungry for knowledge and who can contribute mightily to their communities. Those people are viable candidates for the ultra selectives. Just taking hard courses solely isn’t indicative of these characteristics. It’s not what you *do/I but who you are.

You really don’t need 6 APs…if it’s your sophomore year. Junior year, yeah probably. But even that doesn’t guarantee an Ivy acceptance.

Doing well in 4 AP’s will definitely look better than doing ok in 6. If you can do well with a rigorous courseload, then by all means, go for it.

Do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

i got straight a’s this year with 4 APs, and my counselor thinks i can pull it off (then again the ones at my school are terrible)
and im signing up for next year which will be my junior year
my freshman year it was a mix of laziness and difficult courses, overall i got a 3.7 which isnt bad at all its just not where i wanted to be…

Ummm what? You did fine freshman year. You have a little bit of leeway freshman year it terms of grades.

To answer your question though, it’s definitely worth it to max out whatever you think you can handle. If you got straight A’s in 4 APs freshman year, I think you can handle six. I think it’s typical for work ethic to improve during sophomore year, and by junior year you’re going to be doing more work than you now think is possible. T26 is right though, if you’re going to take a course that rigorous, you need to want the challenge.
