Is it worth it?

Pnw, I shudder to think of the “audacity” of private schools to charge so much for higher education and question our own willingness to pay. If we did not have some money saved, I would have not permitted sonny to attend NYU. Even with slightly more than half tuition covered by a scholarship, the reality is we still have to pay around $160,000 out of pocket for 4 years when you add up housing, meals, allowance money, books, etc.

Even now, I have said to my son he will do better to invest his college money in the devalued real estate and in twenty years (or less), he should be doing well, maybe even be able to retire, with the money invested into real estate.

The cost of higher education is way out of proportion to what middle class/ lower middle class families make.

@evolving

Basic math just doesn’t make sense:
Student/faculty ratio: 12
Tuition: $40k
12*40k = $480,000 per faculty member.

And most classes have about 20 students!

For the money saved from attending a State University, I can buy a condo or house that she lives in while going to school from the money we save on tuition. And we own a piece of property when she’s done! Its make no sense to me…

It comes down to what one is willing to pay. I dont justify why my D goes to NYU. You have to do.what is comfortable for your family.
