Is it worth taking another year???

I've been thinking and thinking againn....
whether to take another year of language.

I already took French 1,2,3.
1 in 8th grade(middle school) and 2 in 9th and 3 in 10th respectively

I already know Korean (prob rate myself level 8 1/2 out of level 10)

I know lots of people have been asking the same question, but nothing specific of what I was looking for.

Some college require 2 and some don't even care, but only have recommendations.
Is it worth taking a 4th year of French???

(Not a real fan of French and I suck it at .. BADLY!!) (I want to really attend NYU or some other great schools) To add on, I'd rather take other AP classes instead.

I want to become a dentist so prob be majoring in biology.

To quote my college counselor “You should take 3 years of language in high school or at least until you pass level 4,” neither of which you have done. Is there anyway you can take French 4 w/o it being an AP? I think you should take it just b/c it generally looks better (you look like a more well rounded student). You technically only need 2 years for NYU, but if you are going to do that make sure to replace French with a challenging course.

Hm … I was going to switch it with a gym class cause its required and i’ve haven’t done it, but eventually, i would have to get it done…

I wouldn’t replace AP French 4 with gym, that doesn’t make your schedule look as tough as NYU would like. You should just fit gym in somewhere else. I dropped Spanish senior year and replaced it with AP Psych, something like that will look, in lack of a better term, legitimate.

yeah but its required… then im gonna have to take it senior year

Do you have a free period? Take it instead of a free block then (that’s what I did). Or 2nd semester senior year when your course load isn’t as scrutinized. In general it looks better passing level 4 of a language, so maybe you can drop it senior year. This isn’t a make-or-break admission decision so I wouldn’t worry too much, but since you asked for advice that’s mine. Your other stats (SAT/ACT and GPA) are much more important than whether you took French 4.

Okay thank you so much. i decided to take french
