Hi Thankfully my son got admitted to MSU for an education major. His plan is to become a high or middle school teacher. But we are not living in Michigan, so the tuition is out of state’s. One of reason he selected MSU is due to the rank on the education major (#1 for secondary education). Do you think it is worthy to pay much more money to attend MSU for a secondary teacher? Or be better to attend a in-state college which may be ranked lower?
What is your in state option? What can you comfortably afford (no loans, no hardship)?
High school teaching generally does not pay enough to be able to easily afford paying back substantial student loans. However, most states have in-state options which are affordable, and fairly well respected.
Ranking of education degrees within the education community is not the same as the “prestige” rankings of USNews.
@happy1 , we are near Michigan. So he will get Oh or Pennsylvanian scholarship which may helpful a little.
