Is kinesiology as useless as everyone says?

I want to eventually go to grad school or PT school for physical therapy, or even this same path for physicians assistant.
I feel like kinesiology was exactly what I wanted to do because I'm so interested in the body, it's functions, and anything athletic. It also seems like the best stepping stone for my career goals (PA,PT,..)

However, my friend said kinesiology would be the worst decision I could make:( and now I've been second guessing every day.. What should I do?:(

“Everyone” = “one friend”?

You either need to get some 2nd+ opinions, or at least ask your friend why she thinks pursuing kinesiology is “the worst decision [you] could make.”

tahoe-I sent you a pm.

IN general, there seems to be a real disrespect for kinesiology in academic/medical circles. I suspect it is a residual of that being a standard PE/jock major in the 70s? Or else having that understanding of the body is not valued, rather the ochem weeder classes are valued. Even though it seems like it should teach you valuable info about the body, it seems to be a poor choice for many cases in furthering your eduction. I do not know about PA/PT, but for MD, it is not a good option, even though the knowledge gained could be helpful.
