Is living in a big city dangerous?

If this city exists in the confines of a “gun-free zone” it is very dangerous. Stay outside the city perimeter where gun rights are respected.

You’re looking at UNC Charlotte? I attended undergrad there… it’s totally fine. The campus is far from the actual city and is completely self-contained.

Now…it’s not like a small college town like IU Bloomington where I went to grad school and where you can walk all over at any time of night…but during the day it’s fine and as long as you stay on campus in a group at night and not too late you should be fine.

There were pretty common reports of girls getting targeted running alone at night for muggings and junk and I did have my side view mirror busted…but for the most part it’s very safe and the college isn’t actually “urban” like say… NC State or NYU or something.

I’m a native NYer and grew up in rather rough areas and live in Philly now for school. It mainly comes down to common sense and basic street smarts.

You’ll be fine if you remember your surroundings and take some basic precautions.
