Is Miami University Oxford a good school?/ How would you rate it?

Hello! I visited Miami University Oxford and I really liked it but I’m curious to see how others feel about it because it’s not those super low acceptance rated schools nor is it super well known. How would you all rate it and is it going to benefit me going there? Thank you!

It was good enough for the former Speaker of the House.

Excellent university with an excellent reputation. It is well known and well respected in academic circles. If you like it, put it on the top of your list.

The Simpsons episode Grandpa Gets a Hearing Aid addresses your suspicions!
Track it down and watch it. Very funny.

By student profile, Miami compares with schools such as American and Trinity (CT), which would seem to represent well-established collegiate company. Beyond its general academic attributes, Miami’s programs in areas such as business/finance/accounting/marketing and education appear to serve as popular draws for many of its students.

My sister went to undergrad at Indiana and grad school at Miami. She raved about Indiana. When talking about Miami, she always seemed grumpy. OTOH, I know lots of people who went to Miami and loved it.

Miami is a fine school - one of the original “public ivies”.

President Benjamin Harrison graduated from Miami (OH). Robert Frost called Miami, “The most beautiful campus that ever there was.”. i would say it’s definitely worth a visit and close look.

You will get a great education at Miami and you can go anywhere with a Miami degree. My son graduated in May with an engineering degree and is now at Georgia Tech for a Masters degree in biomedical engineering. He was also accepted into grad school by UC San Diego, Duke, USC, and Cornell, all top biomedical engineering graduate programs. His roommate graduated with a business degree and he is now working at a top Wall Street investment banking firm.

I would put Miami in the same category as colleges like Baylor, Marquette, TCU, etc. All very solid colleges. Son toured the school twice and decided it wasn’t for him. But for someone who wants a not-so-huge campus and strong academics with a focus on undergraduate teaching, it could certainly be a good fit.
