In my application to the College of William and Mary they have an optional writing portion that encourages creative and humorous writing. The only real prompt to it is “Describe yourself.”
I’m currently writing what I call a “dating profile for colleges” that opens with a funny story of how I came up with the idea. The bulk of the writing is formatted like a real dating profile with a mix of humor and details aimed to highlight how id fit with the college.
Is this response a little too strange? Or will I stand out in a good way? Im willing to PM what i currently have to anyone interested in reading the actual text
Your approach seems fine to me. Be careful who you send it to, including me. But I’m safe, just a parent of Princeton and Duke graduates. And I’d be happy to give it a read.
Sounds a bit cliche, but would depend entirely on your approach. Remember that it’s quite likely the old stodgy faculty that read these things have never filled out a dating profile or swiped anyone right or left. Be careful what you assume other people know.
