Let me explain first my summer:
So far I have a pretty nice schedule of running for cross country, weight lifting, working at the local ShopRite and studying AP Economics/SAT. Also I'm planning on doing some volunteer work in the last month of summer (I already do a lot of volunteer work in the school year with my youth group). However looking at what other kids do I cringe at how much less I've done because my top choice is Boston College. Am I really doing enough? I really don't want to do some research program or similar thing though because it is something I see as a waste of money and time during which I could be making money. So is it enough?

you should do what you find is enjoyable. in that context you’re fine. doing research is not a requirement for any college.

Hotshots on here joining research camps for the gifted, or studying abroad are not the norm. A large number of students do either, but it won’t automatically admit you.

As long as your summer doesn’t go to wast playing your PS3 daily, then its a good thing. If you have a job, then its reasonable enough.
