I want to change my name. It’s comprised of three incredibly common names, the first being “Ashley.” Every single Ashley I’ve ever met besides myself is snooty and uptight (and no, I’m not saying all of them are. All the stereotypical ones go to my school apparently…)

And what do you know? That’s the exact portrayal of an Ashley in pop culture. -gags-

I’ve spent my entire life with the most common name given to girls in my birth year, and I’ve started to really hate it.

When you’re in a class with three other people with the same name as you and then two different people with the same name in your next class, it gets old after a while.

I desperately want to change my name to something far less common. My middle name too. Every fifth girl has my middle name… >>

My parents decided to change my first and middle names when I was about six months old (didn’t get around to it til I was four though), they realized they’d just given me a name that wasn’t meant for me they say. They forgot to tell me, because they’d essentially always called me by my new name (or ‘the baby’ before they picked the new one), and I flipped out when I found my birth certificate! I thought I had a twin they never told me about. I LOVE my name though, I couldn’t imagine being anything else, especially not my old name-it’s very not me.

Little tip-if doing any legal stuff (getting license, passport, anything), have your change of name certificate with you, and make sure you changed it with social security too! (I couldn’t get my license because my SSN still belonged to my old name!)
