Is National Honor Society Worth It?

I was just recently accepted into my school’s NHS, and my school takes it very seriously. They don’t just accept anyone, it’s a pretty big deal. Like the people above me said, it varies among schools, so I’ll talk to the NHS adviser to see what’s it like in your school. I wouldn’t judge something based on other schools.

@FantasyVesperia: Same, except I haven’t gotten accepted yet (only a freshman, you have to be in your second semester of sophomore yr). Hopefully I get in? lolol.

@MathGuy777 In my school, in order to become a member you have to be a Junior or Senior. It’s not that hard to get in lol, just have more than 2 leadership roles and a good amount of community service signatures. then you should be fine. I don’t know if everyone had to do this, but on our application we had to list awards and honors we received throughout high school.

I see it as a joke personally: nearly everyone gets in. Besides, I don’t see the “honor” in volunteering for a cause only for the sake of getting into NHS, or for just getting into college for that matter.

Oh my gawd I love you.

It seems like nowadays, you aren
t considered very “smart” if you don
t have NHS on your resume, but yet, even though you have to have a good GPA (somewhat) to be in it, it
s not special. All you do is volunteer, and you have something to add to your resume. It doesn
t mean anything, really, but colleges act like it does.
