Is not taking AP Physics okay?

I’m planning to major in Chemical & Molecular Engineering… But due to a schedule conflict, I was not able to take AP Physics this year (I took/ taking all the other sciences: AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science) Would that look okay to colleges? Or am I at a serious disadvantage?? T.T help

If you have a solid GPA and good scores I’m sure you’ll be fine. It also depends where you want to go. Colleges usually look at AP classes to see your motivation, also you can talk about not being able to take it if you do an interview or personal statement. Other than that you should be fine.

omg thank you so much T.T that reassured me a lot :heart: thank u!!

It shouldn’t affect your chances of admission at all, since you aren’t planning to major in Physics. Where you might be at a disadvantage is when you have to take the subject in college instead of skipping it with AP credits – it’s possible that it could be treated as a “weed out” class in college and be ridiculously difficult. Just be prepared to study and get help as needed if that’s the case.

Have your GC mention in his LOR to colleges that you wanted to take AP Physics, but weren’t able to do so.

You are completely fine.

Agree with above posts, and it won’t hurt to have your GC mention there was a schedule conflict and you couldn’t take it just in case AP physics is needed for “most rigor”.

Make sure that you have some kind of high school physics course (AP or otherwise), since physics in college often assumes high school physics as a prerequisite. Also, AP physics is often not that useful for subject credit in college – only the C version (with calculus) may be accepted for subject credit for engineering majors.
