I was recently accepted to the Gallatin class of 2020, but I only received loans for financial aid. NYU is my dream school, but I do not know if I should take out 280k in loans to attend undergrad. My parents can help me pay a lot of it, but I will still be 100k+ plus in debt when I graduate. I also may be thinking about attending grad school. Is it worth the money? Or should I just go to my state school?
The Gallatin school is what you make of it. There’s so much you can do with the program that it’s only worth it if you yourself make it worth it. You should discuss what your goals and future plans are with your parents and agree on a conclusion yourself.
@BabyDuck As you’ll see from other threads, NYU is not known for its generous financial aid. Many students assume huge student loan debts to attend. It really depends on whether you are comfortable going hugely into debt for an undergraduate degree. $100K is a massive amount to be in debt when you graduate. My personal advice is to go somewhere else. You can always attend for graduate school.
